THE STORY OF CHILI
America’s passion for chili can be traced back to
San Antonio, Texas, in the 1820’s, when local cooks made the most of
inexpensive cuts of meat by simmering cubed beef with red chili peppers
and spices. True one-pot cooking, the hearty stew was especially popular
among cowboys and chuckwagon cooks. Chili was introduced to northerners
at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and soon became a favorite across the
country in distinctive regional variations. Today, our chili mix
provides a delicious shortcut to an authentic Texas “bowl of red.”
